Privacy policy

How we collect, use, protect and store your personal data, in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Online Dissertation Advisors is fully committed to protecting your personal information. This policy explains clearly what data we collect, why we collect it, and how you can control it. Please read it carefully before using our services.

Who We Are

Online Dissertation Advisors (“we”, “us”, “our”) is a UK-based academic writing support service providing dissertation writing, assignment help, editing, and proofreading services to university students across the United Kingdom.

Registered Address: 185 High Road, Chadwell Heath, Essex, RM6 6NR, United Kingdom

We are the data controller responsible for the personal information you provide through our website at onlinedissertationadvisors.co.uk. For any privacy-related queries, contact us at info@onlinedissertationadvisors.co.uk.

Information We Collect

Information you provide directly to us:

  • Contact details: full name, email address, and phone number
  • Academic details: university, course level, subject area, word count, and deadline
  • Assignment briefs: documents, module handbooks, or guidelines you upload or share with us
  • Payment information: processed securely via our payment providers; we do not store card details on our servers
  • Communications: messages sent via email, WhatsApp, our order/enquiry forms, or your student account
  • Feedback: reviews, ratings of delivered work, or any correspondence you send us
  • Account activity: if you use your student account, when you sign in, the files you upload and download, and the requests you make (for example a change to a deadline)

Information collected automatically when you visit our website:

  • IP address and approximate geographic location
  • Browser type, device type, and operating system
  • Pages visited, time spent on each page, and referring URLs
  • Cookie and tracking data (see Section 6 for full details)

How We Use Your Data

We use the personal information we collect only for the purposes described below:

  • To reply to your enquiry and send you a quote
  • To deliver the service you order: matching you with a specialist, sharing your brief with them, delivering each stage and handling changes
  • To run your student account, where you upload files, follow your order, message us and pay
  • To take payments, send receipts and keep the financial records the law requires
  • To send you service emails about your enquiry or order (these are not marketing)
  • To send marketing emails, only if you have agreed to receive them
  • To understand which pages and adverts bring enquiries, using analytics only if you accept them in our cookie banner
  • To keep our website and systems secure and prevent fraud and spam

We will never use your data for any purpose incompatible with those listed above without first notifying you and, where required, obtaining your consent.

Under UK GDPR, we must have a lawful basis to process your personal data. We rely on the following legal bases:

  • Contractual necessity: processing is required to fulfil the academic service you have ordered
  • Legitimate interests: to improve our services, prevent fraud, and communicate with existing customers
  • Legal obligation: to comply with applicable UK law and regulatory requirements
  • Consent: for marketing communications and non-essential cookies, where we have explicitly asked for and received your permission

Data Sharing & Third Parties

We never sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party for marketing purposes. Your information stays confidential.

We share your information only in the following limited and necessary circumstances:

  • Assigned writers: your brief and requirements are shared with your allocated UK-based writer solely to complete your order. Writers do not receive your name, email address or phone number; all messages go through us
  • Service providers who run our systems for us: Microsoft 365 (email), Vercel (website hosting and storage of enquiries, in London), Cloudflare (spam protection on our forms) and the hosting provider for our customer system and student accounts. They may only use your data to provide their service to us
  • Payment processors: Visa, Mastercard, Wise, and Payoneer process payments under their own privacy policies and PCI-DSS security standards
  • Analytics providers: anonymised, aggregated website usage data is shared with tools such as Google Analytics
  • Legal authorities: if required by law, regulation, or court order, we may disclose your information to relevant authorities

All third parties we engage with are required to handle your data securely and in accordance with UK GDPR. Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. When they do, the transfer is protected by UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

Our website uses cookies (small text files stored on your device) and similar browser storage. Only the items needed for the site to work are used before you make a choice in our cookie banner.

  • Essential: remembers your cookie choice and keeps our forms working. These are always on.
  • Spam protection: Cloudflare Turnstile checks that a form is being sent by a person, not an automated program.
  • Analytics (only if you accept): Google Analytics 4 tells us which pages are visited and which pages lead to enquiries. We use Google Consent Mode, so no analytics cookies are set unless you accept.
  • Advertising (only if you accept): if we run online ads, these cookies measure whether an ad led to an enquiry.

You can change your choice at any time using the "Cookie settings" link at the bottom of every page, or by clearing cookies in your browser. Rejecting non-essential cookies does not affect our services.

Data Retention

We keep your personal data only for as long as is necessary for the purpose it was collected, or as required by law:

  • Enquiries that do not lead to an order: deleted 2 years after your enquiry
  • Files and messages for an order (your brief, uploads, the work we deliver, and messages and emails about the order): deleted 12 months after the order is completed or cancelled
  • Order, quote and payment records (what was ordered, amounts, dates and receipt numbers): kept for 6 years after the order is completed or cancelled, in line with HMRC record-keeping rules and the time limit for contract claims
  • Other emails that are not about an order: deleted after 2 years
  • Marketing consent data: retained until you withdraw consent or unsubscribe
  • Website analytics data: retained for up to 26 months in anonymised form only

Deletion happens automatically. Once data is no longer needed, it is securely deleted or permanently anonymised. If you ask us to erase your data sooner, we remove your details, files and messages, and keep only the financial records we must, without your name.
